Recent polling averages place the Parti Québécois at roughly 28-29% support ahead of the October 5 election, translating into seat projections centered around 46-52 MNAs with wide simulation ranges reflecting many tight races against the CAQ. This positioning drives trader emphasis on outcomes below 50 seats, as the party’s francophone concentration yields seat efficiency gains yet falls short of the 64-seat majority threshold amid a fragmented federalist vote split among the CAQ, Liberals, and Conservatives. Latest surveys from Léger, Nanos, Research Co., and others show PQ support holding steady without the surge needed for a clear majority path, while CAQ erosion and Liberal rebound have narrowed the gap in key ridings. These dynamics, combined with the first-past-the-post system’s sensitivity to regional swings, underpin current market pricing for PQ seat totals.
