Cheng Chao-fang holds the leading position in the Hsinchu County magistrate race as the DPP nominee, reflecting trader consensus on his momentum after a September 21 poll showed him ahead of KMT nominee Hsu Hsin-ying by 6.4 points. Cheng, Zhubei mayor since 2022, benefits from strong local support in the county's most populous city and recent gains among undecided and former third-party voters following the breakdown of KMT-TPP coordination on related races. Hsu secured her party's nomination in March via a mixed primary process and retains geographic strength outside Zhubei, though recent polling indicates erosion in overall favorability. The November 28 election features a de facto two-candidate contest, with minor candidates registering negligible market pricing amid standard local factors such as turnout patterns and municipal performance records.
