Incumbent Democrat Mark Pocan holds a commanding position in Wisconsin’s 2nd Congressional District due to the district’s consistent Democratic lean, anchored by Madison and surrounding areas with a Cook PVI around D+21. Pocan secured the Democratic nomination in the August 2026 primary with roughly 88% of the vote against a minor challenger. No Republican candidate filed by the June 2026 deadline, leaving the November 3 general election without major-party opposition. Forecasters across Cook, Sabato’s Crystal Ball, and Decision Desk HQ rate the seat Safe or Solid Democratic. Trader consensus reflected in current pricing aligns with this structural advantage. Scenarios that could still shift outcomes include an unexpected independent or write-in surge, a late health or ethics development affecting Pocan, or court-ordered redistricting before Election Day.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
