Incumbent Rob Burton leads the Oakville mayoral market after entering the October 26, 2026 race on the final day of nominations in late August, seeking a sixth term since 2006. Traders appear to price in his established record on growth, infrastructure, and council leadership amid a five-candidate field that includes challengers splitting support. Julia Hanna, who narrowed Burton’s margin to under 900 votes in 2022 and is running for the third consecutive election, holds the next position on name recognition and platform emphasis on traffic, oversight, and development. Sitting councillors Jeff Knoll and Sean O’Meara bring long municipal experience but resigned their seats to run, while newcomer Arvind Choudhary trails on lower visibility. With advance voting set for mid-October and no recent polling shifts, the contest remains defined by incumbency, vote fragmentation, and the short campaign window ahead of election day.
