Official National Weather Service observations for Central Park and nearby NYC stations recorded a minimum temperature of 65°F on September 20, 2026, under overcast skies with light rain and northerly winds that prevented further cooling overnight. This reading aligns precisely with the 64-65°F bin, producing the near-certain market-implied odds as traders incorporated verified climatological data rather than forecasts. Historical September averages near 60°F and recent model guidance had allowed for a wider range, yet persistent cloud cover and moisture kept temperatures elevated. Resolution hinges on final NWS climatological reports; revisions or use of an alternate station could theoretically shift the outcome, though such changes remain rare once preliminary data stabilize.
