**National Weather Service forecasts and ensemble model guidance for Austin on September 22 point to a high near 98°F under partly cloudy skies with light northeast winds and only a slight afternoon shower chance, aligning with the market’s near-even split between the 96-97°F (42.5% implied probability) and 98-99°F (38.5%) bins.** Persistent late-summer warmth, driven by above-average soil moisture deficits and a broad ridge, has kept daily maxima several degrees above the 1991–2020 September average of 89.6°F. Minor differences among runs—cloud timing, boundary-layer mixing, and exact dew-point evolution—create the tight clustering around the upper 90s rather than a clearer favorite. Updated NWS guidance and any new short-range model outputs tomorrow morning represent the final data points before official observations resolve the market.
