Incumbent Republican Richard Hudson holds a strong position in North Carolina’s 9th congressional district ahead of the November 3 general election, reflecting the seat’s consistent Republican lean and his long tenure since 2013. The district supported Republican presidential candidates by double-digit margins in recent cycles, and ratings from multiple forecasters classify it as Solid or Likely Republican. Hudson, who serves as NRCC chair, maintains a substantial fundraising edge and faced no primary opposition. Democrat Richard Ojeda secured his party’s nomination in the March primary but trails in most assessments, despite Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee attention and one mid-2026 poll showing a narrow gap. Trader consensus pricing aligns with the district’s structural advantages and limited recent shifts that would alter the competitive landscape.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
