The Aguascalientes gubernatorial race remains closely contested ahead of the 2027 vote, with trader consensus reflecting a narrow contest between leading PAN-aligned figures Leonardo Montañez Castro and Antonio Martín del Campo and Morena’s Nora Ruvalcaba Gámez. Internal party processes have advanced on the Morena side with Ruvalcaba’s designation as state coordinator, while PAN contenders continue positioning through local networks and visibility as municipal leaders. Recent federal engagement, including President Claudia Sheinbaum’s September visit highlighting infrastructure and social programs, has kept national dynamics in focus without shifting local preferences decisively. Polling shows the main PAN and Morena options separated by only a few points, underscoring the state’s status as a competitive holdout where turnout, coalition strength, and candidate selection in coming months could widen or close gaps further.
