**Mohammed Umaru Bago holds the clearest lead in the 2027 Niger State gubernatorial race as the APC incumbent.** He secured unopposed affirmation as his party’s candidate in May 2026 after broad ward-level consensus, with recent endorsements including public backing from the federal Information Minister in early September. APC dominance in the state—evident in prior local government sweeps and assembly results—combined with Bago’s record on infrastructure and agricultural programs under the New Niger Agenda, underpins trader positioning. Opposition candidates face structural challenges. Abubakar Suleiman’s PDP nomination saw a late shift in early September when he stepped down for Mohammed Mamman Nami, though Suleiman retains a modest market share. Mohammed Kpautagi, the ADC nominee confirmed in May primaries, and numerous other listed aspirants from parties such as NNPP, Labour, and SDP register lower implied probabilities amid limited statewide organization. INEC’s August release of the full candidate list for the February 2027 poll confirmed Bago’s APC ticket alongside roughly 15 others, reinforcing the incumbent’s early consolidation of party machinery and resources ahead of the vote.

This market will resolve according to the listed candidate who wins the 2027 Niger State gubernatorial election. Any interim, acting, or caretaker Governor will not qualify.
If the results are not known definitively by October 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other".
To be elected Governor, a candidate must satisfy the requirements under Nigerian law, including receiving the highest number of votes cast and the constitutionally required geographic distribution of votes. If no candidate wins the election outright, this market will remain open to account for any further election or runoff, provided this occurs before the resolution deadline. If no candidate has been officially elected by the resolution deadline, this market will resolve to "Other".
This market will resolve based on the results of this election, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve solely based on official results published by Nigeria's Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Nigerian government sources.
