Hsu Shu-hua, the Kuomintang incumbent Nantou County magistrate, holds a commanding lead in trader consensus for the November 28, 2026, election due to her established local record since 2022, including infrastructure projects, budget advocacy, and rising approval ratings in a traditionally KMT-leaning county. Joint campaign events with township candidates in September 2026 have reinforced grassroots mobilization and resource allocation advantages. The Democratic Progressive Party challenger, Wen Shih-cheng, a New Taipei dentist with limited recent county ties, faces structural barriers as a relative newcomer in a contest with no major third-party or intra-party splits. While the implied probability favors Hsu, potential shifts could arise from unforeseen national political developments, candidate health events, or late scandals within the resolution window before voting.
