This market will resolve to “Yes” if a snap election is called in Denmark between market creation and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No.” The calling of a snap election requires the formal dissolution of the Folketing, or another formal scheduling, according to the rules of the jurisdiction, of an election for all members of the Folketing prior to their scheduled election at the end of the parliamentary term. An announcement of an intention to call an election, a failed vote of no confidence, or the collapse of the governing coalition will not by itself qualify toward a “Yes” resolution. The resolution source for this market will be official information from the government of Denmark and the Folketing; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.**Denmark's newly formed minority center-left coalition government, installed in June 2026 after the March 24 snap election, faces no immediate pressure for another early vote.** The March contest—triggered by Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen to capitalize on a temporary rally-around-the-flag effect amid U.S. tensions over Greenland—produced a highly fragmented Folketing with 12 parties represented. Frederiksen secured a third term through negotiations involving the Social Democrats, Green Left, Moderates, and Social Liberals, supported externally by left-leaning parties. As of mid-September 2026, the administration is focused on implementing its agenda, including defense spending, the Greenland security pact with the United States, and domestic priorities such as cost-of-living measures. No major legislative impasse, confidence vote threat, or public demand for fresh elections has emerged in the three months since government formation. Danish parliamentary terms run four years, placing the next scheduled contest around 2030, and historical patterns show snap elections are typically called only when a prime minister perceives a clear advantage or faces coalition collapse—conditions not currently present. Trader consensus at 92% for no snap election by year-end reflects this stability and the short remaining window.
