Israeli operations remain focused on consolidating control over a southern Lebanon security zone several kilometers from the border, with recent seizures of Hezbollah infrastructure at sites like Ali al-Taher Ridge and large-scale demolitions of tunnels and weapons caches. These actions follow a June U.S.-brokered framework agreement that ties any further Israeli withdrawals to Lebanese army enforcement and Hezbollah disarmament, though implementation talks have stalled and the next round is now delayed until October. Israeli officials have described the latest ridge capture as completing their hold on the zone, with no announced plans or movements toward Beirut municipality itself. Ongoing U.S. diplomatic engagement, Lebanese internal constraints, and the absence of major escalations pushing ground forces northward continue to shape trader assessments of near-term entry risks.
