Presidential elections are currently scheduled to be held in The Gambia on December 5, 2026. This market will resolve according to the listed candidate who wins the 2026 Gambian presidential election. Any interim or caretaker President will not qualify. If the results are not known definitively by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of this election, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve solely based on official results as reported by the Independent Electoral Commission of The Gambia (https://www.iec.gm/).Adama Barrow, the incumbent National People’s Party leader seeking a third term, leads the December 5, 2026, first-past-the-post presidential contest as the clear frontrunner in trader pricing. Recent August polling showed him at 51% on perceived electability, well ahead of Ousainou Darboe (UDP) at 23% and Talib Ahmed Bensouda at 12%, with Barrow strongest across most regions. His June manifesto launch and nine-point development agenda reinforced his record on infrastructure and services. September power blackouts triggered protests and a national emergency declaration, prompting Barrow’s pledges for a 24-megawatt unit by October and a new solar plant, though these events have not yet shifted the overall market positioning. A fragmented opposition, including multiple independent and coalition efforts, has limited unified challenges, sustaining the implied probability gap.
