Recent preliminary results from Russia's September 18-20, 2026 State Duma election show the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia maintaining a clear lead for third place behind United Russia and the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. LDPR's established regional structures, nationalist positioning, and polling support near 9-11 percent have sustained its edge over New People, whose results have tracked lower in the final weeks. The five-percent threshold and mixed proportional-single mandate system further shape seat outcomes among systemic opposition parties. With over 90 percent of votes processed in early tallies, final certification by the Central Election Commission would need substantial reversals in remaining districts or electronic voting to alter the order.
