Official National Weather Service observations from Houston Intercontinental Airport and nearby stations recorded a daily maximum of 92–93°F on September 21, 2026, aligning with National Blend of Models guidance that anticipated modest cooling from the preceding multi-day heat wave. Late-September climatology places the average high near 88°F, yet persistent high pressure, weak steering flow, and Gulf moisture kept conditions above normal while preventing stronger afternoon heating or convective cooling. This market-implied outcome reflects verified station data rather than forecasts, with near-certainty driven by the narrow range of plausible observational outcomes once the day concluded. Only a post-analysis quality-control adjustment or use of an atypical secondary station could realistically alter the recorded maximum.
