The Cambridge, Ontario mayoral race remains closely contested ahead of the October 26 vote, with traders pricing the incumbent Jan Liggett near even odds against challenger Scott Hamilton and minimal support for the remaining field. Liggett, seeking a second term after winning in 2022, benefits from name recognition and her record on council since 2014, while Hamilton, a sitting ward councillor, draws from established local networks. Recent withdrawals narrowed the ballot to six certified candidates, reducing vote fragmentation but leaving limited room for others to gain traction. A late-September investigation into Ryan Bolender’s campaign video over potential bylaw issues has not shifted the top two meaningfully. Scheduled debates and final campaign pushes through early October could still influence turnout or consolidate preferences in this multi-candidate contest.
