Ongoing diplomatic expulsions of Iranian officials reflect reciprocal tensions with multiple governments over alleged interference, espionage, and violations of diplomatic norms under the Vienna Convention. In the past year, the United States quietly removed several personnel from Iran's UN mission on national security grounds, while Argentina, Australia, France, Lebanon, and Kuwait each declared Iranian diplomats persona non grata in response to specific incidents ranging from antisemitic attacks and airport strikes to mistreatment of their own embassy staff. These actions often trigger Iranian countermeasures or defiance, as seen in Beirut. Trader focus centers on which country next initiates or escalates such measures amid unresolved disputes and scheduled diplomatic reviews.

For the purposes of this market, “expel” refers to a formal action by a country requiring the Iranian Ambassador currently stationed there as of market creation to leave the country, including a declaration of persona non grata. Revocation of the Ambassador’s visa or denial of entry to that country will not alone suffice.
An announcement of a qualifying expulsion will suffice for a “Yes” resolution, regardless of whether the Ambassador actually leaves the country.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the relevant country’s government; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
