Persistent warm air masses and southerly flow across central Texas have kept overnight lows elevated in the low-to-mid 70s through mid-September 2026, consistent with record-high mean temperatures reported by local NWS offices and the absence of any significant frontal passages. Recent National Weather Service model consensus and observational trends from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport reinforced expectations for a minimum temperature settling near 70–71 °F on September 20, producing the market’s overwhelming 95.5 % implied probability for that bin. A late-day surge in cloud cover or an unforecast northerly wind shift could still push readings a degree or two lower, while any upward revision in post-event quality-controlled data might favor the adjacent 68–69 °F outcome.
