Elif Eralp of Die Linke leads the market at 73.5% following her party's first-place finish in the September 20, 2026, Berlin state election with 25.7% of the vote. This outcome stems from voter shifts away from the incumbent CDU-SPD coalition, whose lead candidate Kai Wegner withdrew in July amid criticism over crisis management, allowing Stefan Evers to take over for the CDU. Evers's party placed second at 18.8%. Coalition talks now center on a potential red-red-green arrangement involving the SPD and Greens, which would position Eralp as governing mayor. Lower probabilities for Evers at 16% and other candidates reflect their parties' weaker results and limited paths to a majority without Eralp's bloc.
