Terri Sewell’s strong position in Alabama’s 7th congressional district stems from its D+10 partisan voting index, majority-minority demographics, and her record of 63-75% general election margins since 2010. The district underwent boundary adjustments following recent court rulings and a restored map, yet ratings from Cook, Sabato’s Crystal Ball, and others classify it as Solid or Safe Democratic ahead of the November 3 general election. Sewell faces no Democratic primary opposition, while Republican nominee Ammie Akin, an educator who won her August special primary, is mounting a campaign focused on education and rural issues but confronts the district’s structural lean. Trader consensus reflects these fundamentals, with only low-probability disruptions such as a late scandal or turnout anomaly likely to alter the outcome.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
