July’s final demand PPI held flat month-over-month with a 4.7% year-over-year reading—down from 5.5% in June—while core measures eased to 4.2%, reflecting goods deflation offset by services gains. Analysts now project a rebound to roughly 5.3% for August, driven by commodity pass-through and base effects, aligning with trader consensus reflected in the heavy weighting toward the 5.1%+ bucket. The Bureau of Labor Statistics release at 8:30 a.m. ET today represents the key near-term catalyst that could validate or shift these probabilities.
