Eli Savit secured the Democratic nomination at the party convention after Karen McDonald withdrew, while Doug Lloyd won the Republican nod following the August conventions, setting up a general election matchup on November 3 to replace term-limited incumbent Dana Nessel. A late August-early September poll showed the race nearly even at 36% Savit to 35% Lloyd with 29% undecided, underscoring the open-seat dynamics in a state where down-ballot results often track partisan leanings. Savit holds a fundraising edge and broader name recognition from his Washtenaw County prosecutor role and prior legal experience, factors traders appear to weigh in assigning him the higher implied probability. Lloyd’s endorsements from business groups and emphasis on retail crime prosecution provide counter-momentum but have not yet closed the gap in market pricing. Minor-party and write-in options remain low-probability placeholders ahead of the November vote.
