**SpaceX's completed June 2026 IPO at a $1.77 trillion valuation, now reflected in a roughly $2 trillion public market cap, underpins the modest trader edge for it posting the higher IPO market cap.** OpenAI's confidential S-1 filing in June has not led to a 2026 debut; CEO Sam Altman cited AI safety and alignment priorities in September statements, shifting expectations to 2027. OpenAI's most recent private round valued it at $852 billion, with reports of interest in a larger pre-IPO financing near $1.2–1.5 trillion still short of SpaceX's realized pricing. Traders appear to weigh SpaceX's Starlink-driven revenue scale and established public trading history against OpenAI's higher growth potential but delayed timeline and unresolved safety overhangs. Key near-term catalysts include any OpenAI funding round announcements or model capability updates that could reset its implied valuation ahead of a 2027 listing.

In the event of an interruption in the course of the normal trading session on the respective companies’ first day of trading (e.g., a circuit breaker or half-day), the market will resolve according to the official closing price of the abbreviated session. If no such official closing price is published, the market will resolve according to the next trading day on which an official closing price is published, treating that as the first day of trading.
