Recent polling shows Marília Campos (PT) holding a clear lead for one Minas Gerais Senate seat, while the contest for second place remains highly competitive among Aécio Neves (PSDB), Carlos Viana (PSD), Domingos Sávio (PL), and Marcelo Aro (PP). Aécio’s late entry into the race at the end of August has intensified the battle for the remaining vacancy by consolidating opposition support and shifting momentum in several surveys. With roughly 29% undecided voters and 21% intending to cast blank or null ballots ahead of the October 4 election, small shifts in turnout or preference among these groups could reorder the second-place finishers. The dual-vote system further amplifies uncertainty, as voters select two candidates and the final ordering depends on how support distributes between frontrunners and challengers.
