This market will resolve according to the party of the candidate who wins the TX-35 congressional district seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2026 midterm elections. The midterm elections will take place on November 3, 2026. A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).**Redistricting after the 2025 cycle transformed Texas’s 35th congressional district into a more Republican-leaning seat covering the I-35 corridor between San Antonio and Austin, with new lines that would have given Donald Trump roughly a 10-point margin in 2024.** Both parties held competitive primaries that concluded in late May 2026 runoffs. Bexar County sheriff’s deputy Johnny Garcia secured the Democratic nomination after defeating Maureen Galindo, whose campaign drew national attention and party criticism over antisemitic remarks and outside spending from a Republican-linked group. On the Republican side, Air Force veteran Carlos De La Cruz, endorsed by Trump and the brother of Rep. Monica De La Cruz, prevailed over state Rep. John Lujan, who had Gov. Greg Abbott’s support. Garcia and De La Cruz each raised and spent roughly $900,000–$1 million through early September, with comparable cash on hand. A late-August poll showed them essentially tied at 45–44 percent with 11 percent undecided. The race remains open with early voting scheduled for October 19–30 and Election Day on November 3, leaving room for shifts driven by turnout among Hispanic voters, economic messaging, or border-security themes.
