Keith Faber secured the Republican nomination unopposed in the May primary and holds an 88% implied probability in the November 3, 2026 general election, reflecting Ohio’s Republican lean in statewide races and his experience as state auditor. John Kulewicz won the Democratic primary and trails at roughly 10.5%, consistent with historical margins for the office. Recent campaign activity, including Kulewicz’s initial television ad and debates over issues such as license-plate reader data access and the FirstEnergy HB 6 corruption case, has not shifted the contest. Fundraising and outside spending favor the Republican nominee, while the open seat created by Dave Yost’s resignation and interim appointment of Andy Wilson has not altered the partisan baseline. The race remains two-candidate with limited polling available this far from Election Day.
