Trader consensus placing a 90% implied probability on no Category 4 or stronger hurricane landfall in the US before 2027 is driven by the advanced stage of the 2026 Atlantic season, with peak formation windows now closed and National Hurricane Center guidance showing sharply reduced development chances through November. Current steering patterns and elevated wind shear have steered recent systems offshore, aligning with climatological data indicating most major landfalls occur earlier in the season. Historical NOAA records confirm Category 4+ US strikes remain infrequent, averaging under one per year in recent decades, while sea surface temperatures and atmospheric conditions limit rapid intensification near the coast. No active systems currently threaten these thresholds, and season-end data releases are unlikely to alter the outlook.
