Ohio's Republican lean and the open-seat nature of the race following Frank LaRose's term limit have positioned Treasurer Robert Sprague as the frontrunner against former House minority leader Allison Russo, with the November 3 general election six weeks away. Sprague's primary win over Marcell Strbich and emphasis on election security align with longstanding GOP advantages in statewide contests, while Russo's primary victory and focus on institutional change reflect Democratic efforts to compete in a state that has favored Republicans in recent executive races. Sabato's Crystal Ball rates the contest Lean Republican as of mid-September, consistent with trader pricing that shows a modest Sprague edge amid limited new campaign developments or polling shifts. The presence of Libertarian Tom Pruss adds a minor variable but has not altered the core two-party dynamic.
