Persistent tropical moisture with precipitable water values of 2.0–2.4 inches, combined with an elongated ridge and inverted trough over the northwestern Gulf, sustains elevated dew points and limits radiational cooling in Houston. Official NWS guidance points to overnight lows in the upper 70s on September 10 amid scattered diurnally driven thunderstorms and southeasterly flow, consistent with above-normal early-September conditions where average lows reach only 73.9°F. Cloud cover, storm timing, and any brief clearing introduce small uncertainties that differentiate market-implied bins such as 78–79°F versus 76–77°F. Trader consensus aggregates these variables into closely matched probabilities reflecting genuine forecast spread rather than a single dominant outcome.
