The first round of the 2026 midterm LA-02 House election will be held on November 3, 2026. A candidate may win the election “outright” in the first round by winning more than 50% of the valid votes in the first round. This market will resolve to “Yes” if any candidate wins the 2026 midterm LA-02 House election outright in the first round. Otherwise, it will resolve to “No”. If the results of the first round of the specified election are not known definitively by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "No". This market will resolve based on the results of this election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the state electoral authority responsible for certifying the results of the LA-02 House election.**Incumbent Democrat Troy Carter holds a strong position in Louisiana’s 2nd Congressional District, a solidly Democratic seat rated Safe or Solid D by major forecasters.** The November 3, 2026, contest uses the state’s majority-vote system, in which all candidates appear on a single ballot and a candidate wins outright by securing more than 50% of the vote; otherwise the top two advance to a December 12 runoff. Qualifying closed in August with a modest field that includes Carter, Democratic or independent challenger Renada Collins, Republican Peter Williams, Libertarian Lisa Ballay, and unaffiliated candidate Walter Beach. Carter’s 2024 reelection with 60.3% and consistent institutional support in this majority-Black, D+50-leaning district reduce the likelihood of vote-splitting sufficient to force a runoff. Historical results in comparable safe Democratic seats show incumbents routinely clearing 50% when opposition remains limited and uncoordinated. Trader consensus around 85–95% for an outright winner reflects these structural factors, the absence of major late developments that could consolidate anti-incumbent support, and the district’s partisan baseline. No significant polling shifts or new candidate entries have altered this outlook in recent weeks.
