Taiwanese local elections are scheduled to be held on November 28, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next Magistrate of Yilan County as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder Magistrates appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known, or no candidate has been elected, by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of the elections as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the Taiwanese government, specifically the Central Election Commission (https://db.cec.gov.tw/).Lin Kuo-chang holds the leading position in the November 28, 2026, Yilan County magistrate race due to his established local profile as a long-practicing lawyer, unified Democratic Progressive Party backing after prior factional tensions, and the county’s historical tilt toward the ruling party. Wu Tsung-hsien, the Kuomintang nominee backed by a KMT-Taiwan People’s Party alliance after prevailing in joint polling over Chen Wan-hui, trails amid limited personal connections to Yilan and residual effects from the previous KMT administration’s legal challenges. Recent candidate registration closed on September 4 with five total entrants, including independents, adding minor fragmentation but not shifting the core contest. Public polls consistently show Lin ahead in head-to-head and multi-candidate scenarios, while opposition coordination and turnout among swing voters remain key variables ahead of election day. Trader consensus prices these factors into the current implied probabilities.
