Silver (XAG/USD) trades near $67 per ounce in early September 2026, consolidating in a $65–$70 range after retreating from January highs above $115. Hawkish Federal Reserve signals, including roughly 60% odds of a 25-basis-point rate hike at the September 15–16 FOMC meeting, weigh on the non-yielding metal as markets digest sticky inflation and stronger oil prices from geopolitical tensions. A softer U.S. dollar index provides support, while elevated 10-year Treasury yields near 4.80% limit gains. Traders await Thursday’s PPI and Friday’s CPI releases for clues on policy, with industrial demand and ongoing mine-supply deficits offering structural backing that has yet to override near-term macro pressures.
