James Talarico leads Denton County odds at 68.5% amid a statewide Texas Senate race rated toss-up or lean Republican by forecasters, while Ken Paxton sits at 42%. Suburban voter shifts in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro, including Denton County, favor the Democratic nominee's emphasis on education funding, insulin costs, and property taxes, as shown in recent polling averages where Talarico edges or ties Paxton among independents and moderates. Paxton's May runoff victory over incumbent John Cornyn, backed by a Trump endorsement, consolidated Republican primary support but has not fully offset his lower favorability in suburban areas. Multiple September surveys, including ReconMR and Emerson, reflect a competitive general election environment with Talarico maintaining narrow leads in some DFW samples, supporting trader positioning on county-level outcomes ahead of November 3 voting.
