**Chang San-cheng holds a dominant position in the Taoyuan mayoral race as the Kuomintang incumbent seeking re-election on November 28, 2026.** Candidate registration closed in early September with only two contenders: Chang, renominated by the KMT, and Democratic Progressive Party nominee Huang Shih-chieh, a former legislator and deputy justice minister. Recent polling and approval surveys show Chang maintaining strong support above 60 percent amid steady local governance on infrastructure, industry, and population growth. The race features limited third-party or independent activity, and recent joint public appearances by Chang and national leaders on economic issues have underscored his broad local backing. Trader consensus aligns with this structural advantage for the incumbent in a contest lacking major late-breaking disruptions.
