The dominant market positioning on a 76-77°F low for Austin on September 9 stems from the official National Weather Service observation at Austin Bergstrom International Airport, which recorded a minimum of 76°F at 6:43 a.m. CDT under clear, calm conditions. This reading aligned with model guidance showing minimal overnight cooling amid a strong high-pressure ridge and southerly flow that kept dew points elevated. The value exceeded the 1991-2020 normal of 69°F by 7 degrees, consistent with the broader warm pattern across central Texas. Traders assign only slim odds to lower brackets because preliminary climatological reports and nearby station data showed no colder pockets or measurement discrepancies. A realistic shift would require an official data revision or resolution criteria tied to a secondary station, though such adjustments remain uncommon this close to the observation date.
