The Nicolet-Bécancour race remains closely contested ahead of the October 5, 2026 Quebec general election, with trader consensus reflecting a tight three-way contest driven by provincial trends eroding the Coalition Avenir Québec's previous dominance in the Centre-du-Québec riding. Incumbent Donald Martel holds a modest edge as the sitting MNA and agriculture minister, yet projections show the Parti Québécois' Jérôme Gagnon and the Parti Conservateur du Québec's Guillaume Langlois drawing comparable support amid broader voter shifts toward opposition parties. Sophie Martinbeault of the Quebec Liberal Party trails significantly. Candidate nominations concluded earlier in the year, with limited riding-specific events since then; the outcome hinges on turnout in rural areas and any late campaign developments that could consolidate votes among the leading contenders before election day.
