Persistent rain and thick cloud cover from an approaching low-pressure system are capping New York City temperatures on September 20, with National Weather Service and multiple model runs forecasting a high near 70–72°F amid southeast winds and widespread precipitation. This setup favors the market’s leading 70–71°F bin, as daytime heating remains limited by reduced insolation and evaporative cooling. Historical September averages near 75°F provide context for the cooler outcome, while minor model spread around the exact peak keeps 68–69°F and 72–73°F as plausible alternatives pending final observations. Traders are weighting the consensus forecast heavily, with resolution hinging on official Central Park readings.
