Official observations from the National Weather Service confirmed a daily maximum of 88–89°F at the primary Denver reporting station on September 16, locking in the market-implied outcome near 100 percent. This reading aligned with late-summer warming patterns under clear skies and light winds, exceeding the 1991–2020 normal high of 79°F while falling short of the all-time September 16 record of 95°F. Forecasters had anticipated mid-80s values the prior day, and the actual peak matched the upper end of model guidance without significant revision after the fact. Only a post-event station recalibration or data-quality flag could reopen lower bins, an unlikely outcome given consistent preliminary reports.
