Forecast consensus from the National Weather Service and supporting models places Chicago’s September 25 high in the mid-60s, driven by persistent easterly flow off Lake Michigan that supplies cooler, stable air and maintains extensive cloud cover through much of the day. This pattern suppresses daytime warming relative to climatological averages near 73 °F, with limited solar heating and dew points in the 50s further capping the maximum. Traders have priced 66–67 °F and 68–69 °F nearly equally because small differences in the timing of any afternoon clearing or slight model spread in boundary-layer mixing could shift the peak by 1–2 °F. No major synoptic changes are expected before resolution, so updated NWS point forecasts and hourly observations on the 25th will determine the final bucket.
