Silver (XAG/USD) has traded in a $65–$68 range this week amid offsetting forces of U.S. dollar weakness and elevated rate-hike expectations. Spot prices settled near $67.94 on September 9 after a 2.5% daily gain, supported by broad USD softening and Treasury Secretary bond-buyback activity even as 10-year yields approached 4.80%. Stronger-than-expected August jobs data have lifted CME FedWatch odds of a 25-basis-point hike at the September 15–16 FOMC to around 60%, while upcoming PPI and CPI releases will shape final policy pricing. Escalating Middle East tensions have also lifted oil and near-term inflation concerns, capping upside for the non-yielding metal despite its industrial demand tailwinds and supply constraints. Traders are watching dollar index levels and real-yield moves for the clearest near-term signals.
