Recent geopolitical tensions and elevated oil prices have pushed 30-year mortgage rates to 6.71-6.83% as of early September 2026, up from lows near 6.1% earlier in the year, as 10-year Treasury yields reflect sticky inflation above the Fed’s 2% target and expectations for a hold or hike at the September FOMC. Trader sentiment on Polymarket thresholds centers on whether persistent energy-driven price pressures and the new Fed chair’s hawkish signals will sustain yields near current levels or allow moderation if data cool. Key upcoming catalysts include the next CPI release, labor market reports, and the September 15-16 policy decision, which directly influence the 10-year benchmark and mortgage spreads.
