This market will resolve according to the party of the candidate who wins the SC-06 congressional district seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2026 midterm elections. The midterm elections will take place on November 3, 2026. A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).**Jim Clyburn’s commanding position in the SC-06 race stems from the district’s entrenched Democratic lean, his long incumbency, and the collapse of Republican redistricting efforts.** South Carolina’s 6th District carries a Cook PVI of D+13 or stronger, with a substantial Black voter base and urban concentrations in areas such as Richland and Charleston counties that have consistently delivered large Democratic margins. Clyburn, first elected in 1992 and seeking an 18th term, cleared his June 2026 primary with roughly 90 percent of the vote against a minor challenger. Forecasters across Cook Political Report, Inside Elections, and Sabato’s Crystal Ball rate the seat Solid or Safe Democratic. On the Republican side, John Peterson emerged from the June primary but remains a low-profile candidate with limited name recognition and fundraising. The failure of mid-decade map changes preserved existing boundaries, removing the main structural threat to the seat’s partisan balance. Trader consensus reflected in current pricing aligns with these structural and historical factors. Realistic challenges remain narrow and would require late-cycle disruptions such as a major health event, ethics issue, or unusually high Republican turnout mobilization in a low-salience midterm environment. Absent such developments, the race is expected to resolve along established partisan lines on November 3, 2026.
