Recent polling shows Marília Campos (PT) holding a clear lead for one Minas Gerais Senate seat, leaving a tight contest among several contenders for second place ahead of the October 4 election. Aécio Neves (PSDB) entered the race late in August and has quickly polled in the 10-14% range in consolidated first- and second-choice votes, placing him in technical ties with incumbent Carlos Viana (PSD) at 8-13%, Domingos Sávio (PL) at 6-14%, and Marcelo Aro (PP) at 4-9%. High undecided voters (around 29%) and a large share open to switching preferences keep the second-seat probabilities closely matched. The September 14 candidate substitution deadline and final campaign period remain key variables that could shift the field before voting.
