Lula maintains a commanding position in Pernambuco for first place in the 2026 Brazilian presidential election first round, driven by his status as a native son of the state and longstanding dominance in the Northeast region. Recent September 2026 polling from AtlasIntel, Datafolha, and Real Time Big Data consistently shows him at 55% or higher in first-round scenarios, more than 20 points ahead of Flávio Bolsonaro, with other candidates such as Augusto Cury and Renan Santos in single digits. This reflects sustained voter preferences in Lula’s home state, where he secured over 66% in 2022, reinforced by local alliances and campaign plans for a pre-election visit. Trader consensus assigns him overwhelming probability for first place, though shifts could arise from late developments like turnout changes among key demographics or broader national economic signals affecting regional sentiment before the October vote.
