This market will resolve to "Yes" if Apple officially releases a MacBook with a touchscreen by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". In order to be considered released, the product must be available for purchase by the general public within the specified timeframe. An announcement or unveiling alone is not sufficient. A qualifying release of a MacBook with a touchscreen by Apple will only count if it is explicitly branded a MacBook. For example, an iMac will not qualify to resolve this market to "Yes". A qualifying touchscreen must be a true screen; a touch bar will not qualify. The primary resolution source for this market will be official statements from Apple. However, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Recent Bloomberg reporting from Mark Gurman highlights that Apple’s first touchscreen MacBook—expected to feature an OLED display, Dynamic Island notch, and M5 Pro or M5 Max chips—is slated for late 2026 or early 2027, following supply-chain adjustments that accelerated the timeline by skipping planned M6 high-end silicon. This marks a notable departure from Apple’s longstanding resistance to touch input on macOS laptops, driven by competitive pressures and observed iPad usage patterns. While October announcements remain a traditional window, ongoing memory shortages introduce realistic slippage risk into 2027. Trader consensus at 55% for a 2026 release reflects the tight window and lack of official confirmation amid credible but unverified development milestones.
