Richard Vereš leads trader consensus in the Ostrava mayoral market at 63 percent, reflecting ANO's strong regional position ahead of the October 9-10, 2026, Czech municipal elections. As mayor of the Slezská Ostrava district and head of the local ANO organization, Vereš was confirmed as the movement's lead candidate in late 2025, aligning with ANO's 43.6 percent vote share in recent parliamentary balloting in the city. Current mayor Jan Dohnal, running under the rebranded srdcOVA coalition of ODS, KDU-ČSL, TOP 09, and independents, sits at 34.5 percent amid efforts to consolidate center-right support. Lower-priced candidates such as Aleš Boháč, Rostislav Řeha, and others trail, consistent with their parties' more limited citywide backing and the post-election council vote that will select the mayor. No major late developments have altered these alignments in recent weeks.
