Additional warrants stem from a 2024-2026 aggravated human trafficking case and contempt for failing to appear in court. He remains sheltered in his Chapare stronghold under protection from coca grower allies, while a new national police commander announced in early September 2026 that executing the orders is now a priority. Morales has sought provisional measures from the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, alleging political persecution amid ongoing tensions with President Rodrigo Paz’s administration. Trader consensus reflects these enforcement barriers and political dynamics.
