Incumbent Jack Crompton holds an 83.5% implied probability in the Whistler mayoral market, reflecting his established position after re-election in 2022 with 66.8% of the vote and two prior terms leading the Resort Municipality. Traders appear to weigh his record on local priorities such as housing initiatives and tourism planning against a still-forming field ahead of the October 17, 2026 vote. Brandon Smith’s mid-August entry as a challenger, centered on housing, wildfire preparedness, and community identity, accounts for the secondary 7.5% share. With nominations closing September 11 and limited public declarations to date, the numerous 50% placeholders and “Other” option capture uncertainty over additional contenders. Local elections in British Columbia typically favor incumbents when opposition remains fragmented or late to organize.
