Chou Chun-mi, the Democratic Progressive Party incumbent seeking re-election on November 28, 2026, maintains a dominant position in the Pingtung County magistrate race due to the county’s longstanding DPP-leaning voter base and her administration’s record on technology investment attraction, infrastructure upgrades, and social programs. Recent national surveys rank her satisfaction levels among the highest for county leaders. Her main challenger, Kuomintang nominee Su Ching-chuan, faces headwinds from a June 2026 indictment tied to building code violations at a hospital he founded, following a 2024 fire that resulted in fatalities. This rematch of the 2022 contest, where Chou prevailed by a narrow margin, shows limited movement despite localized flooding concerns, with trader pricing reflecting structural advantages for the incumbent and barriers for the opposition candidate.
