This market will resolve to "Yes" if OpenAI's next GPT Image model (2.6+) is made available to the general public between market creation and the specified date (ET). Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". A qualifying model must have a name or model identifier that includes "GPT Image" and be designated as version 2.6 or higher, regardless of capitalization, hyphenation, spacing, or surrounding prefixes, suffixes, dates, or descriptors. For example, a version 2.6 or higher named in the same manner as GPT Image 2 or GPT Image 2.5 would qualify, including a new whole-number generation such as GPT Image 3, while models whose name does not include "GPT Image" or which retain a version designation of 2.5 or below, such as GPT Image 2.5 (released September 8, 2026), including its Flare and Sunburst variants, GPT Image 2, or DALL-E 3, will not qualify. Size, speed, or cost variants of any existing version, such as mini or turbo variants, and application or product version launches without a new qualifying underlying model, such as a "ChatGPT Images 3.0" product update, will not qualify. A qualifying model must be launched and publicly accessible, including via open beta or open rolling waitlist signups. A closed beta or any form of private access will not suffice. The release must either be clearly defined and publicly announced by OpenAI as accessible to the general public, or otherwise be made publicly accessible and explicitly labeled on the company's official website. Labeling errors, placeholder text, or version names displayed on the website that do not correspond to a model that is actually accessible to the general public will not qualify. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from OpenAI, with additional verification from a consensus of credible reporting.OpenAI’s recent launch of ChatGPT Images 2.5 on September 8, 2026, with GPT-Image-2.5 Flare and Sunburst variants in the API, reinforces its lead in the GPT Image series that succeeded DALL-E. The update delivered 50% lower latency, sharper details, richer textures, improved multi-turn editing, and a new Sketch tool, building directly on the 2.0 release from April and the earlier 1.5 model. This rapid iteration cycle, alongside OpenAI’s integration of reasoning capabilities and weekly generation volumes exceeding 3 billion images, has shaped trader consensus around the company’s continued control of the 2.6+ release. Upcoming developer conferences, API usage data, and any announcements on further scaling or feature thresholds remain key near-term catalysts that could influence resolution.
